The Gall of Some Bladders: a brief post

I’m writing today from a hospital bed, the result of an emergency gallbladder surgery. This is the first time I’ve been able to function at any level for the past few days.

It started apparently Thursday, when I was bloated and in excruciating pain in my stomach. I got sick and it got better so I thought it was food poisoning. I had the chills and shakes for the next day or so and then that pain hit again.

I’m no wuss, so when I told Amy around midnight that some had to drive me to the hospital, it was clear this wasn’t something simple. The doc told me today that this thing was so messed up, he couldn’t see the arteries he needed to clamp around it.

Sufficient to say I’m on the mend and relatively feeling better. I will hopefully be sent home in a day or so and maybe back to work in a week or so. I figure the blog will come back on line around that time as well, given it’s taken me about an hour to type this much functionality.

Not looking for sympathy or pity, but rather just wanted to let you all know why the blog will be quiet for a bit

Best,

Vince (aka the doctor of paper)
